Lake Baikal! Is there anyone in the world who hasn't heard
of this tremendously beautiful lake. Its length is 636 km,
depth - 1637 meters. It is the largest in the world fresh
water lake. How wonderful is the lake in different
seasons! You can judge about this yourself while passing by it
with a caravan of jeeps along the southern part of the lake
where everything is as if on the palm of your hand: hills with
white scars of marble mines, the Shamans' cape like a needle
stuck into the greenish Baikal waters. The lake is only 70 km
away from Irkutsk. Lake Baikal is the largest and the deepest
lake in the world where 23 % of world fresh water supplies kept. Having visited Baikal you'll see
yourself that
it is the most beautiful among the world lakes. In 1996 by the
UNESCO decision the lake is included in the list of world 's
heritage sites. Nowadays the lake is the
object of not only the perceiving tourism but many other kinds
of ecological tourism as well. Many tourists strive not
only to know more about lake, but also to see an uncommon
nature of the lake, walk on foot along its shores or make a boat
trip on board of comfortable ships, make an immersion to the
bottom of sacred sea-lake or to climb up the hills surrounding
the lake like a stone ring. A visit to the Museum of Baikal history
and the Open-Air Museum "Angarskaya village" will add to your
knowledge of Lake Baikal.

Lake with its younger brother - Lake Khuvsugul situated in the
northern part of Mongolia and is suggested to be the largest

surrounded by mountains covered with pine forests and bright
meadows, and there are white jurts and herds of horses as if
sprinkled over them. Round the lake one can see many different

will follow you during the whole journey, fearful roe-deer,
reindeer and mighty bison, wood grouse, small and large
feathered preys and other birds - the diversity of fauna is
observed everywhere. In the lake zone there live rare kinds of
water birds - swans, mountainous geese, bustard and

ecological tour - safari. The length of the route is 2400 km
and the tour lasts for 11-15 days (according to your wish).
Day 1. Your tour will begin from the capital of Eastern
Siberia-Irkutsk,
famous for its history and traditions, freaking stone private
houses and wooden lace of windows' shutters of old houses.
This ancient Siberian City is 300 years old and it has an old and interesting history.
Day 2. In the morning you'll set off for a southern
part of Lake Baikal. The distance of 150 km you'll overcome in
3 hours. The road runs along the old Moscow tract, along the
shore of Lake Baikal, across the taiga forest decorated with
the fluffy Siberian cedars. The first stop will be made in
Kultuk settlement to see a wonderful view on Baikal Lake, it's
amazing. During the next stop you'll have a lunch in a
restaurant "By the sea". Then comes the departure to Buryatia
capital Ulan-Ude. You can't help adwering Sebirian Nature and
it's variety on the way. In the evening,
having passed the distance of 300 km you will arrive in Ulan-Ude.
You'll stay overnight in the "Gesser" hotel and relax after a long
trip.
Day 3. Today you'll have a survey excursion, which will
help you to familiarize with the city, the Buriats' culture
and traditions. After lunch you'll visit the first and the
only large Buddhist center - the Ivolginsky Datsan, where
there is the residence of main lama.
Day 4. Transfer to Russian- Mongolian border, to a border
point Kyachta it will take about 3 hours (240 km) to get
where. The road runs
through hills and wide steppes, and here you'll see completely
different landscape - wide valleys and small quiet rivers.
Before the revolution Kyachta was a transition point through
which the caravans moved from Mongolia and China to Russia and
Western Europe. Here passed the Tea Road. You can visit Local
Lore Museum, which is one of the largest stores of unique
treasures of the Baikal region. Here you cross the border and
after the Mongolian border point begins the country of ever blue sky - Mongolia. On our way to Darchan, a small
city 150 km away from the border one can see quietly grazing
camels, herds of sheep and horses. The program suggests
staying over night in tents but according to your wish you can
accommodate at the Darchan hotel. This city is the second
according to size city of Mongolia. It is situated between two
rivers Hara Gol and Sharin Gol.
Day 5. After breakfast you'll make a transfer to the
Mongolian capital. It takes you 4 hours to get Ulaan
Baator.Accommodation at hotel.
Day 6. You'll familiarize with the ancient town of
nomads, visit the vivid Buddhist monastery Gandan and set off
for a tourist base "Chingis Khan" where the jurts, the
national Mongolian dwellings are situated in a picturesque
area and are perfectly supplied with all utensils. In the
evening, during supper of Mongolian cuisine you'll enjoy a
concert of folk national group presenting throat singing,
shaman's dances.
Day 7. Road again, every day closer and closer to the
terminate point of our tour - lake Khuvsugul.
The first stop for lunch is in 4 hours time, in Darchan and
then again departure to the third in size Mongolian city -
Erdenet. It takes 3 hours (185 km) to get it. During the
transfer you can see herds of grazing camels, seep, goats and
horses.
The road passes by the river valley and then runs to the
mountains, where from time to time white jurts are seen on the
background of untouched steppe. Here near Erdenet you
accommodate at the tent camp. The members of the staff will
take care of everything.
Day 8 . During the whole day transfer you'll judge for
yourself how various is the nature of Mongolia -here you can
meet all the climatic zones - from the dense taiga forest to
the safari forest and Goby semi deserts in the south, from
wide steppes in the west to covered with snow mountains in the
east. A short stop in Bulgan and the safari car goes on to the
bridge across the Selenga River. After the crossing the
tourists make a stop to have a rest and dinner. Another 5 hours
to get Murena. The view changes, steppes stretching to the foot of high mountains,
steep banks of the Selenga River, the largest tributary of
lake Baikal with cold, just icy water covered with thickets of
bird cherry trees and willow. You'll move for 500 km all in
all today. In the evening you arrive to Murena and accommodate
at a tent town, have supper and stay here over night.
Day 9. You today's itinerary lies to Hatgal. The road
stretches along the steppe and you are at last is the final
point of our tour - the shore of the Khuvsugul Lake. As the
shoreline is very difficult to drive along our moving on will
be very slow. The shore of the lake is indefinitely cut, steep
slopes come down to the very water, and you will see cozy bays and gulfs. You'll drive on about 50 km
and stay here over night in a tent town.
Day 10. The whole day you drive along the lake's shore
and enjoy its unique beauty. Lake Khuvsugul has a very
important ecological meaning for Mongolia, as it bears 65 % of
clean fresh water supplies of the country. Having parted with
Khuvsugul you drive on in a border point Mondy to cross the
Russian -Mongolian border. We are again on the Russian
territory. We have left Khuvsugul and Mongolia. Here you'll
have lunch, relax in hotel and after lunch your expedition
goes on to Irkutsk through Arshan (120 km). The word Arshan
from the Buryat language means the magic spring. Accommodation
and rest in the buildings of the resort, and then swimming in
mineral waters.
Day 11. Our way runs to Irkutsk - the final point of
our tour. The distance from Arshan to Kultuc is 112 km cover this distance
for 3-4 hours. You'll be accommodated at hotel with all
convenience and you'll relax from the tiresome road and brush
up in memory the most pleasant and interesting places of your tour,
which you will remember for a long time.

Khuvsugul - Ulaan Baator - Ulan Ude -Irkutsk and also a short
tour from Irkutsk through Mondy to the Khuvsugul Lake. Our

staying over night in tents, we'll drive by cars along the
banks of Khuvsugul
Day 1. Arrival in Irkutsk, one of the oldest cities in
Eastern Siberia built by Cossacks more than 300 years ago.
Immediately after arrival you drive to the Listvianka village
which is 72 km away from the city. The road runs through the
forest, along Irkutsk man-made sea, along the valleys as well as
through hills. The view changes so quickly - coniferous forest
is changed by birch roves, sunny meadows by picturesque bays
of the man-made sea. In the Listvyanka settlement you'll
accommodate at a comfortable hotel and have supper of the
traditional Siberian cuisine dishes accompanied by folk
music.
Day 2. Today you'll familiarize with Irkutsk and the
main historic places of interest during the survey excursion.
After that you'll set off to Arshan with the caravan of
Russian jeeps. The road passing by hilly area will take about
4 hours. Arshan, translated from Buryat means
"the magic spring". You'll meet a lot of local people.
Accommodation and rest in this resort. In the evening you come
back to Irkutsk.
Day 3. Today you'll set off for Mondy - a border point on
the Russian-Mongolian border. So here we are on the Mongolian
territory, and after having done all necessary border
formalities the caravan of cars moves in the direction of Lake
Khuvsugul. It appears suddenly and immediately charms you.
Stop on the shore of lake for relaxation and accommodation in
tents.
Day 4. In the morning you enjoy the beautiful view -
the sunrise on the lake. Blue waters of Khuvsugul stretches to
the horizon. You'll have a rest on the shore- fishing and
meetings with local people, familiarizing with
traditions.
Day 5. Tour along the shore of lake, familiarizing with
local nature, relaxation, swimming - all that is for you. In
the evening you come back to the tent town to try famous fish soup
- ukha - from local fish
Day 6. Back to the road -the same route - along the shore
to the border point Mondy and then back to Irkutsk,
accommodation at a comfortable hotel, where you can exchange
the impressions with your friends.
Day 7. Departure from Irkutsk.
